Critical OS Update for Magic Leap One Creator Edition and Magic Leap 1
Magic Leap has recently determined that, in connection with extremely specific use cases, the battery contained in the Lightpack of the Magic Leap One Creator Edition and the Magic Leap 1, when plugged into a charger continuously for an extended period of time, may expand or swell.
Last Revised: April 28, 2020
“Battery Saver Mode” Software Update
Customer safety and satisfaction are Magic Leap’s top priority. We have developed a software update that will minimize the likelihood of swelling in your Magic Leap device by shifting it to “Battery Saver Mode” when connected to a charger for extended periods of time. You can download the latest version of Lumin OS 0.98.11 with the Battery Saver Mode update by following the prompts in your Magic Leap device or from the following https://developer.magicleap.com/en-us/learn/guides/developer-flashing-guide-latest.
“Battery Saver Mode” means that Magic Leap devices that are connected to chargers for prolonged periods will be reduced to a lower state of charge. Therefore, you may unplug your Magic Leap device from the charger and observe that it is not charged to 100%. If you use your Magic Leap device on a daily basis, your Magic Leap device will continue charging to 100%.
PLEASE NOTE: this is a critical software update and we ask that you install it immediately.
Please examine the bottom of your Lightpack to determine if the black silicone cover shows any signs of the battery inside of the Lightpack swelling (such as if you see the edge of the black silicone beginning to lift away or any sort of deformation on the bottom). If you detect swelling, please contact Magic Leap’s Customer Care Center for a replacement device, free of charge.
