Improve Precision and Efficiency with Magic Leap 2 for AEC
For architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) professionals, precision and efficiency are critical—but difficult to guarantee. Every unexpected error or missed detail can produce cascading effects: project delays, costly rework, and unsatisfied clients.
Spatial computing allows architects, engineers, construction workers, and clients to see the impact of each design decision before building begins. With plans and specs fully visualized in augmented reality (AR), alignment and collaboration improve while friction decreases every step of the way.
Magic Leap 2 is enterprise AR purpose-built to address the industry’s most pressing challenges. The platform provides real-world context from design to build, enabling more precise, efficient AEC workflows and improved project outcomes.
Better vision drives better outcomes
Traditionally, stakeholder alignment and adequate foresight have been challenges in AEC. Magic Leap 2 brings plans to life with incredible detail to improve communication and reduce errors throughout projects.
Fully envisioning the impact of a proposed design with Magic Leap 2 helps teams and clients avoid misunderstandings, clashes, and rework down the road. Spatial anchoring positions hyper-real 3D visualizations in physical spaces, so stakeholders can understand spatial relationships and design decisions in real-world settings. For example, with Magic Leap 2, AEC teams and clients can walk through a build model on the actual site, at scale. This context helps all stakeholders grasp how the components of a proposed build will influence one another.
Magic Leap 2 offers the unparalleled performance AEC teams need to work quickly and accurately. Other AR devices use cameras and screens to recreate the user’s physical environment. Then, they display digital content on screen, which can cause lag, distortion, and motion sickness. As a true AR device, Magic Leap 2 is a frictionless experience. Users look through lenses—not at screens—to see high-quality, behaviorally realistic digital content integrated into their physical environment. The expansive 70-degree diagonal field of view lets users see more; best-in-class image performance helps them see more clearly. Proprietary lenses built in-house by Magic Leap enhance color fidelity and legibility of text and images.
Additional features deepen the experience of visualizations and AR-enabled walkthroughs. Dynamic Dimming™ —only available in Magic Leap 2—eliminates up to 99.7% of ambient light to make AR content more legible and solid across a variety of lighting conditions. Users can adjust the degree of dimming to suit their needs. They can also choose to darken the entire display, leaving only AR content visible, or use Segmented Dimming™ for more targeted focus. This option localizes the feature to only dim specific portions of the screen behind AR content to keep it sharp in bright light. Lastly, spatial audio directs users’ attention and creates more realistic auditory conditions to enhance design and collaboration.
The precise, realistic detail of Magic Leap 2 allows everyone to envision each individual element of a build. With a full, cohesive picture of how designs will function in the physical world, teams can work more accurately and efficiently to deliver successful outcomes on time and on budget.
More fluid workflows
To maximize resources, AEC teams must establish and sustain momentum. However, reliance on manual processes can create friction and bottlenecks, resulting in missed deadlines. Digitizing workflows with Magic Leap 2 creates in-the-moment adaptability to improve productivity and collaboration.
Teams can co-create, collaborate, and iterate in real time. Colleagues and clients can participate in design views and instantly evaluate design options, on site or remotely. Virtual checklists, punch lists, and other documentation enable seamless information-sharing and coordination among project stakeholders.
By design, the lightweight, ergonomic headset supports ease of movement. The Compute Pack shifts the processor from the head to the hip for comfortable, extended daily use. Our developer-friendly Android ecosystem and partner network also make Magic Leap 2 open and flexible from a technical perspective.
Using Magic Leap 2, AEC firms can harness AR-based digital transformation to modernize processes, help teams work together more fluidly, and complete projects faster at a higher quality.
Equipped for success
Complex engineering and construction projects require teams to hit the ground running. With Magic Leap 2, AEC enterprises can deliver innovative learning and training programs to drive accuracy, proficiency, and performance.
Interactive orientations using Magic Leap 2 guide new hires through safety protocols, tools, and equipment in their physical workspaces. Simulations of real-life scenarios give employees hands-on, risk-free practice. Advanced training exercises conducted in AR accelerate upskilling and help teams develop a competitive edge.
The robust guidance continues at the construction site. Magic Leap 2 can overlay 3D models onto physical spaces to provide real-time instructions, visual markers, and safety precautions. With the right information at the right time and place, construction workers can make decisions quickly and confidently to keep projects moving.
From day one instruction to advanced training to on-site guidance, Magic Leap 2 creates work experiences that improve employee performance, reduce rework, and promote successful project outcomes.
Create value today and over time
Beyond increasing precision and efficiency in day-to-day operations, Magic Leap 2 can advance key business objectives. AR technology puts clients inside true-to-life digital spaces, creating more impactful, engaging customer experiences.
Projects that consistently finish on time and on budget strengthen client relationships and market differentiation. Providing employees with innovative technology experiences attracts and retains top talent.
